School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences 50th Anniversary and Environmental Media Conference "Risk of Saying Nothing"

Location: School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SOMAS), Endeavor Hall, Room 120

Join us as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary - starting with our Environmental Media Conference. You'll hear more about the history of SOMAS, environmental communications and how it shapes and is used in the news today. Speakers will include: Malcolm Bowman, Professor of Physical Oceanography, Howard Schneider, Dean of the School of Journalism, Christine O'Connell, Associate Director at the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science, David Taylor, Assistant Professor of Sustainability and Heidi Hunter, Associate Dean and Director of Sustainability Studies. The day will include an art exhibit and poster session through Endeavor Hall and other South Campus buildings. Lunch is included.

Join us and hear from Jerry Schubel, former Dean and Director of the Marine Science Research Center and current President and CEO of the Aquarium of the Pacific as he delivers his presentation. The presentation will be followed by a Club Red reception, sponsored by the Alumni Association and the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at the J-Club, located inside Jasmine at the Charles B. Wang Center
